BBC Radio 1Extra Selects Detroit Rapper Drew32 to Represent Greece in Their World Cup Freestyle Competition

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2014

BBC Radios 1Xtra, a national station in the UK for hip hop and R&B fans, handpicked rapper, record producer, and songwriter Drew32 to be one of 32 rappers in the world to participate in their 2014 World Cup Freestyle competition.

The 32 rappers, each representing one of the 32 countries participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, spit a 32-bar freestyle rhyme about their nation. Drew32, a Detroit native and Greek-American, was selected to represent Greece. He quickly put pen to pad and laid down a Greek-flavored track that not only embodies his pride in his motherland, but also captures the fierce competition of the games.

When my manger, Mark Hicks, got an email from the BBC selecting me to represent Greece, I was honored and humbled at the same time, since Im a proud Greek-American but not born and raised in Greece, reflects Drew32. I also felt, this has to be some sort of destiny – after all, 32 countries, 32 rappers, 32 bars. Its kind of awesome.

The track and video, which was shot in Athens, Greece premiered on BBC Radio 1Xtra on Saturday, June 14th, and will air for the duration of the games.

Drew32, who began rapping and producing at the age of 13, has been featured on FuseTV, Comcast OnDemand, ESPN, MTVU, Vibe, The Source, XXL and more. Following the release of his Label Me mixtape in 2012, which was hosted by DJ SKEE, Drew32 began to receive national attention thanks to his hit single I Am King ft. Jon Connor He has since recorded or performed with artists J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Gym Class Heroes, Hoodie Allen, Royce Da 5’9, Jon Connor, Chris Webby, Kirko Bangz and more.

Drew32 is quickly rising through the ranks of Detroits music scene, solidifying 2014 will become his breakthrough year. Taking the recent buzz in perspective Drew32 reflects, Im still hungry. ‘Drugs Make You Un-Smarter’ Authors Team Up with Free-style Performer J-Stylez and Music Artist Writtyn to Present the Drug-Free Commitment Tour to Teens

(PRWEB) May 09, 2011

Drugs Make You Un-Smarter author Jill Vanderwood and her sixteen-year-old granddaughter and co-author, Savanna Peterson hit the road this summer to begin a Drug-Free Commitment Tour. The goal of this tour is to teach kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and talk about how substance abuse affects a family. The authors are joined by motivational speaker and free-style basketball great Jerrickson Hosteen, performing as J-Stylez, and Kari Denny-Flynn, AKA Writtyn who is a hip-hop artist, rapping about the problems in her life caused by her past drug abuse and the alcoholism of her family.

The Drug-Free Commitment Tour includes motivational teen speaker, Savanna Peterson. Even though Savanna grew up with a father in prison for drug related crimes, her brother had parties with drugs and alcohol while her mom was at work, and the cops were watching her house, Savanna chose a drug-free life. Her stories encourage other teens to make the commitment to remain drug-free or change the direction they are now headed.

Youre one of the few people I know where their family did drugs, but you stuck with your commitment and said no to drugs, says Avery.

Savanna, you must have a lot of determination to be a leader and role model and not be a follower of others who do drugs, says Caleb

Jerrickson Hosteen, J-Stylez is a motivational youth speaker and basketball free-styler from the Navajo Nation and lives in Sawmill, Arizona. J-Stylez is compared with the Harlem Globe Trotters. He has auditioned for Americas Got Talent and performed for colleges including Arizona State University, Tsaile Dine College, The University of New Mexico, and all of the Window Rock, Arizona school districts.

Kari Denny-Flynn, Writtyn is a hip-hop artist from the Navajo Nation who was inspired by artists such as MC Lyte, Litefoot, Missy Elliot, and LL Cool J. Writtyn writes and recites lyrics with an anti-drug message. With roots in both Arizona and Utah, Writtyn has performed at the Boys and Girls Club, The Indian Walk-In Center and for the Salt Lake City School District, the Salt Lake Community College, Mestizo West Side Arts Festival, and opened for The James and Ernie Comedy Show.

“Dig your music and your story. Props to you for overcoming so much and using that pain and putting it to music.” — Delon

Jill Vanderwood first experienced the serious nature of drug and alcohol abuse through her marriage to an alcoholic and the meth addiction of one of her children. Jill speaks about how to recognize signs of addiction, setting goals and making a commitment to remain drug-free.

Jill lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has roots in Portland, Ore. She has spoken at schools in the Granite and West Jordan School Districts. Both authors have been interviewed for the Salt Lake Tribune, The Deseret News, Love To Know Teen issues, and Fox 13, Good Day Utah.

One stupid drug can screw your life up, thats why Im gonna be drug free, so I can have my life be great! says Michael.

Light’s Please – (J. Cole) – Shark

Just a cover of one of my favorite beats, The verse is "perspective", Basically a guy telling you a story about his, now, Ex girlfriend. Lyrics are below. Enjoy. LYRICS: There she went, she walked away, and she was showing no shame, Im happy shes happy, but hows she showing no pain? Shes tighter with her girls, like shes going both ways, Shes going out every night, She probably groping those lames, Thats what I vented, I feel neglected, Im not feeling so respected, But I messed up and thats the cost, Its something that I should expect, yet, Its so painful, I lost her, and now I start to feel shameful? Had I came to senses, Our relationship was stable, Slowly shes a stranger, Saying bye to our label I told her that Im able, But she wasnt as faithful, And shes given up, But I havent tapped, It feels like Im missing a big part of my habitat, Beautiful, the memories, the girl, she was my remedy, My love, not only that, She was also a good friend to me, I remenisce and, I cannot forget the thoughts, She came at a price, But I just learned to forget the cost, And she was worth it, She was nearest to perfect, Something I used to flirt with, Then something Id never hurt, shit, Its discrete but Im feeling so defeated, My hearts feeling worn out and Im feeling so damn beated, I check my outbox wondering if she recieved it, She check her inbox, doesnt reply when she read it, Shes loving the attention, Though she act like she dont need it, This is a tough <b>…<b>
