"Beautiful Things" (Lyrics)

Got up early, found somethings missing
My only name
No one else sees, but I got stuck
And soon forever came
Stopped pushing on for just a second
Then nothings changed
Who am I this time, where’s my name?
Guess it crept away

No one’s calling for me at the door
And unpredictable won’t bother anymore
And silently gets harder to ignore

Look straight ahead, theres nothing left to see
What’s done is done, this life has got its hold on me
Just let it go, what now can never be

I forgot that I might see
So many beautiful things
I forgot that I might need
To find out what life could bring

Beautiful things

Take this happy ending away
It’s all the same
God won’t waste this simplicity
On possibility
Get me up, wake me up, dreams are filling
This trace of blame
Frozen still I thought I could stop
Now who’s gonna wait?

No one’s calling for me at the door
And unpredictable won’t bother anymore
And silently gets harder to ignore

Look straight ahead, theres nothing left to see
What’s done is done, this life has got its hold on me
Just let it go, what now can never be

So many beautiful things
So many beautiful things

Now what do I do?
Can I change my mind?
Did I think things through?
It was once my life
It was my life at one time

"Pace yourself."

That’s party veteran and Groove Cruise founder Jason Beukema’s advice to all who board the Norwegian Pearl for the 10th anniversary of the floating uhntz-uhntz bash.

"It’s so high energy, people go raging from the moment they walk in," claims Beukema. "They go too hard, too fast."

With 96 hours of non-stop house music from Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Cosmic Gate, Cedric Gervais, and other beat-bangers of the ilk, how can you blame us?

Setting sail from the Port of Miami January 30 through February 3, the Groove Cruise X will be celebrating a decade of open water partying by expanding to four days aboard the largest ship in its history.

"We have around 70 artists, with most of them playing two or three times throughout the four days, and have close to ten venues on the ship with techno, house, EDM, and trance," explains Beukema.

"We’re [also] stepping up the production with aerial lifts, which we haven’t done before. We’re working on live art, and adding some really cool elements to it."

Like ice sculptures throughout the ship, daily pirate, fetish, and after hours parties, a Super Bowl celebration by the pool with a two-story screen and DJs taking over during commercial breaks and half time, and a private beach bash at Playa Del Mia in Cozumel, Mexico.

"It’s like a water park in the middle of the ocean with beach chairs, jet skies, massages, everything is included," says Beukema. "There’s a huge stage where John Dahlback and other artists will be playing, and beautiful sand. It’s kinda like a sexy, South Beach vibe."

The amenities and gimmicks and music may be all the rage, but the founder insists the Groove Cruise is really all about the wild, PLUR party animals on the boat.

"The vibe is so positive, an escape from reality. You don’t have to worry about anything. There’s no drama. You can let loose and have fun."

Or you could even do something crazy, like get married while trance superstar Markus Schulz serves as a witness.

"Oh, man, it’s one of my wildest memories," Beukema says. "We had our first wedding like two years ago.

"There was a woman on board who was an officiate. She and the bride were wearing tutus, the husband was shirtless. There was some random guy in a ridiculous bunny outfit and Markus Schultz was also there," the cruise founder laughs. "They were gonna get married in a month or two, and just said, ‘Screw it.’"

Although the Groove Cruise has now become what Beukema calls an item on every hard-core EDM freak’s bucket list, the party at sea has come a long way since 2004.

"It’s just humbling to see where it’s at now," he admits. "We started with 125 friends ten years ago, and now it’s like 4,700 people on both coasts, Miami and L.A.. It’s very humbling to see people having a special experience."

And at the end of the four-day bender, Beukema wants you to be burned out, because that’s the only way to be sure you’ve truly Groove Cruised.

"People don’t sleep on this thing!" he laughs. "There’s always a party going on. I hope everyone feels absolutely exhausted, that they need a vacation from their vacation. Like, ‘Wow, that was the best experience of my life.’"

…..item 4)…. Plenty to like at Instagramers Gallery in Wynwood …

… Miami.com … www.miami.com/

Visual Arts

Anyone can be a featured artist at the new gallery space in Wynwood and even win some cash

By Galena Mosovich
1/22/2014

www.miami.com/plenty-instagrammers-gallery-wynwood-article

The Instagram craze has infiltrated the Wynwood Arts District with a street-side gallery devoted to displaying images captured for social media.

The Instagramers Gallery (2324 N. Miami Ave.), owned by co-founders Phil Gonzalez and Jorge Martinez of Spain, opened in early December with two exhibits: a collection of images taken by more than a dozen Instagrammers from around the world as well as the work of Miami-based Instagramers. Collectively, the group has more than 5 million followers.

“Whether you like photography or you just want to see someone else’s world, this is the perfect place for you,” says Martinez. “We want everyone to come and see the beauty of the Instagram image.”

This is the official gallery space for the website instagramersgallery.com, which launched on the same day as the opening. The online site provides creatives of all levels with an egalitarian venue to share photography in the Instagram format with what could be a larger than usual audience. While it’s not officially affiliated with the app, users must have an Instagram account to interact with the site.

One of the featured photographers in the inaugural exhibition is Ines Hegedus-Garcia, a Miami-based realtor and the administrator of @igersmiami on Instagram. Igers Miami is an account created by Gonzalez to showcase Miami through the eyes of local Instagramers.

Hegedus-Garcia says you can go to any major city in the world and find an IGERS community. “The gallery in Wynwood has now taken that to the next level, giving the Igers Miami community an extra incentive to participate,” Hegedus-Garcia says.

In contrast to Instagram, there’s no need for "followers" on instagramersgallery.com and it’s free to upload to or view. Downloading images from other users is also allowed (and free). To maintain the overall quality, users are restricted to uploading one image per day.

And, that one image could translate into big winnings thanks to the site’s “Image-Day” contest. The top photo of the day, essentially the one with the most “likes,” wins ,000 and a spot for display in the Miami gallery.

Winners of the daily contest will compete for a grand prize of 0,000 for the best photo according to a jury of personalities from the art world and the communications and technology industries. The judges will be announced closer to the end of the contest, which wraps on May 1, 2014.

The co-founders, who visit Miami from Spain once a month, say they chose Wynwood because it’s the city’s art district and art is an important component of the Instagram image.

“Launching the gallery seemed like a natural progression after the success of the online portal. Our vision and ultimate goal is to allow anyone and everyone the chance of being a featured artist – this is the power of social media,” Gonzalez says.

The Wynwood location is the first in a series of brick and mortar galleries set to open in cities worldwide. The next stop is Madrid by the end of the month. It’s where Gonzalez calls home and where visual art is just as significant as food and wine.

In addition to exhibitions, the Miami gallery will be home to an ongoing program of talks, seminars, forums and special events geared toward the local community of the site’s users.

The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore is prominent in the weather news business. He’s even referred to as “the rock star of meteorologists” in some circles.

So, it makes sense that a rebellious teen might seek some momentary notoriety by interrupting Cantore during an on-air weather report.

But in this case, Cantore took the teen’s momentum right away from him, displaying some lightning-quick reflexes and deploying a knee-to-the-groin maneuver.

At about the 11-second mark, watch as Cantore looks off-camera just before the teen bursts into Cantore’s shot, screaming a high-pitched wail. But just as quickly, he emits a short yelp and runs back off camera after taking the receiving end of Cantore’s knee.

"Well, obviously here at the College of Charleston they’re already having a good time,"Cantore says, without missing a beat.

You’d think the teen would have known better than to mess with the man who did pushups on air right in the middle of Hurricane Isaac’s 80 mph winds.

J.M – A Beautiful Mess
beautiful mess lyrics

www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8Mz_kyRlWY

Little Boxes On the Hillside

Little boxes on the hillside/
Little boxes made of ticky tacky/
Little boxes on the hillside/
Little boxes all the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one/
And a blue one and a yellow one/
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

Written by Malvina Reynolds in 1962 as she passed by Daly City and its endless rows of suburbia, "Little Boxes" became a hit under her friend Pete Seeger. Later, when a reporter tried to get her to show the location where the lyrics came to her head, she was unable to find it, as more houses had been developed. The song has recently been re-popularized as the theme to the show Weeds.

Florida State is a huge party school—there’s no denying it. Sometimes it’s easy to get swept up into the party scene and forgot the more important aspects of college, like the whole going-to-class thing. But in the end, it’s up to you to make a conscious effort to not go out too much and to always get your work done. Though sometimes easier than said done, finding the perfect balance between partying and school is great way to guarantee your success and a good GPA.

Film Description: Director John Landis put himself on the map with this low-budget, fabulously successful comedy, which made a then-astounding 62 million dollars and started a slew of careers for its cast in the process. National Lampoon’s Animal House is set in 1962 on the campus of Faber College in Faber, PA.

The first glimpse we get of the campus is the statue of its founder Emil Faber, on the base of which is inscribed the motto, "Knowledge Is Good." Incoming freshmen Larry "Pinto" Kroger (Tom Hulce) and Kent "Flounder" Dorfman (Stephen Furst) find themselves rejected by the pretentious Omega fraternity, and instead pledge to Delta House.

The Deltas are a motley fraternity of rejects and maladjusted undergraduates (some approaching their late twenties) whose main goal — seemingly accomplished in part by their mere presence on campus — is disrupting the staid, peaceful, rigidly orthodox, and totally hypocritical social order of the school, as represented by the Omegas and the college’s dean, Vernon Wormer (John Vernon).

Dean Wormer decides that this is the year he’s going to get the Deltas expelled and their chapter decertified; he places the fraternity on "double secret probation" and, with help from Omega president Greg Marmalard (James Daughton) and hard-nosed member Doug Neidermeyer (Mark Metcalf), starts looking for any pretext on which to bring the members of the Delta fraternity up on charges.

The Deltas, oblivious to the danger they’re in, are having a great time, steeped in irreverence, mild debauchery, and occasional drunkenness, led by seniors Otter (Tim Matheson), Hoover (James Widdoes), D-Day (Bruce McGill), Boon (Peter Riegert), and pledge master John "Bluto" Blutarsky (John Belushi). They’re given enough rope to hang themselves, but even then manage to get into comical misadventures on a road trip (where they arrange an assignation with a group of young ladies from Emily Dickinson University).

Finally, they are thrown out of school, and, as a result, stripped of their student deferments (and, thus, eligible for the draft). They decide to commit one last, utterly senseless (and screamingly funny) slapstick act of rebellion, making a shambles of the university’s annual homecoming parade, and, in the process, getting revenge on the dean, the Omegas, and everyone else who has ever gone against them.

(One, two, one, two, three)

Hey baby won’t you take a chance?
Say that you’ll let me have this dance

Let’s dance, let’s dance
Do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too,
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let’s dance, let’s dance

Hey baby, yeah, you thrill me so
Hold me tight, don’t you let me go

But let’s dance, let’s dance
We’ll do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let’s dance, well let’s dance

OK, wail now.

Oh, yeah
(musical interlude)
Hey, baby, if you’re all alone
Maybe you’ll let me walk you home

But let’s dance, let’s dance
We’ll do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too,
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let’s dance, let’s dance

Hey, baby, things are swingin’ right
Yes, I know that this is the night

Let’s dance, let’s dance
We’ll do the twist, the stomp, the mashed potato too
Any old dance that you wanna do
But let’s dance, let’s dance

Partying and college have always gone hand-in-hand. Kind of like chips and salsa, Taco Bell and drunkenness, or Beavis and Butthead. They are two things that can exist without each other; you can still attend college and not party, or party and not attend college. But together they create the perfect balance. It’s nice after a long week of learning to hang out with friends on the weekend and let off some steam. Go to a few parties, maybe meet some new people, and overall just relax and have a little fun.

Partying and college, if done right, can create a harmonious balance in which you are on top of your school work, yet at the same time still leading a very active social life. Students who are able to do this will, in my opinion, get the most out of the college experience. Good grades, lots of friends, and of course fun stories to tell your children—or even some stories you will never, ever tell your children. Either way, you’re having a really good time and still maintaining a good GPA.

In general, I’d say I’ve done a pretty good job of balancing the two. But for some reason, this semester it has become increasingly harder. I’m finding that balancing my social life and school is not quite as easy as it once was. Maybe it’s because I’m taking harder classes or more likely, because I’m going out too much and blowing off my responsibilities. It’s really difficult to stay in and study, especially on a weekend, when all of you’re friends are going out to a huge party.

I think sometimes it’s hard for students to balance party life and school life simply due to the large number of parties and club events that are always going on in Tallahassee. You can literally go out any night of the week and find something to do.

Whether it be at the strip or midtown or even at some random person’s apartment, there is always something going on. As for parties, students will pretty much always think of any excuse to throw one. And I mean any. I’ve been to some really obscurely themed parties that were clearly last minute type of things. People just like to throw parties for the sake of throwing parties. Just the other weekend, my friends, who don’t really like football, threw a Super Bowl party.

Cool Surfin Bird Lyrics images

A few nice surfin bird lyrics images I found:

Lux Interior of The Cramps, dives into the audience at Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco, 1978.
surfin bird lyrics

Last night, Reid told me that Lux Interior of the Cramps died.

The best obit I found includes two video clips which are very much like the first show I saw them do. The Napa State Mental Hospital performance captured by Target Video is dated 1984, that must be the year the tape was edited. That show was in 1978. Wikipedia currently agrees.

In 1978, when the Cramps came for an interview at the radio station where I was a Punk Rock DJ (KMLS, Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California), they had recently played that Napa State Hospital show. I asked them about how they liked playing for "that kind of crazies". Ivy answered, "it was really wild, they didn’t recognize a boundary between the stage and audience, they chased Lux around grabbing the mic, we loved it."

I told them I described their music to my audience as Psycho-Punk-a-Billy Surf Music, Lux laughed, Ivy said, "that’s accurate!" Lux explained that they wanted to resurrect the radical spirit of Rockabilly and that it can’t be done by imitating the records from the ’50s. "People don’t realize how rebellious the music was in it’s time and how much of a stone freak Elvis was before the Colonel got to him".

My partner in the radio show, "Jagged Edges", Gillian Garro and I took the Cramps to dinner at an old-school Italian roadhouse restaurant where we lingered while Lux played Frank Sinatra records on the jukebox and he and Ivy ate fried chicken with knives and forks.

We had a great time with them, went with them to the Inn of the Beginning in Cotati where we all talked excitedly about music, culture and their tour while we hung out before their show.

Their performance was powerful, a wild night of earth-shaking Rock n’ Roll, Lux moshing with us in the audience as much as on stage singing. After the show, we unwound with them and in the early morning, sadly, let them go.

The next night, I drove down to Mabuhay Garden in San Francisco, took photos of their next show.

My condolences go to Ivy, a sweet girl and courageous woman. I wish her well, it must be such a loss to her. The Cramps was a creation of her marriage to Lux and they so clearly loved each other deeply. Their creative partnership has been an inspiration to me.

The story I heard was that they never separated after Ivy, who was tripping while driving in Sacramento, California, picked up the hitch-hiking, Lux, who was also tripping. They immediately formed the band concept, Lux took his name, "Lux Interior" from a description written on the windshield of a car in a used car lot they passed. Ivy first took the name Ivy Rorschach, later was called Poison Ivy. I remember them both as kind-hearted, good-humored, enthusiastic, interested people who welcomed Gillian and I into instant friendship.

Of their original songs, I love the whacky lyrics of "People Ain’t No Good"
"People ain’t no good,
they never do what I think they should.
They’re no good on weekends when they go out to play,
they’re no good as bookends, cause you can’t make ‘em stay."

The brazen craziness of their music, I think is best captured on the Alex Chilton produced Surfin’ Bird

Lux was hesitant to play this on the radio during our interview, but allowed it, telling the audience, "You better prepare for this… drop!"

…..item 1)…. CBS miami.com … DEA Raids Suspected Pill Mills Across South Florida

February 23, 2011 11:54 PM

miami.cbslocal.com/2011/02/23/dea-raids-suspected-pill-mi…

MIAMI (CBS4) – Federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration joined with local and state law enforcement officers for a massive tri-county sweep of suspected ‘pill mills’.

The raids resulted in the closures of several pain clinics, the seizure of millions in cash and the arrests of nearly two dozen people — including doctors, clinic owners and employees.

“When people come to Florida to buy these prescription painkillers, when there’s no medical necessity, the results are the same — death,” said U.S. Attorney for the Southern District Wilfredo Ferrer.

One of the first suspected pill mills targeted in the crackdown was the Commercial Medical Group on Commercial Boulevard in Oakland Park.

Nearby business owner Diane Moore watched the raid.

“I looked out and there were no sirens, they just swarmed in, quite the sight,” said Moore.

People who live and work near the suspected pill mills are grateful for the busts.

“I’m happy about it,” said neighbor Fred Keebler. “It means whenever I drive by here at night I don’t see 100 people standing outside a building with no name on it.”

Federal agents said Commercial Medical is one of 7 clinics owned in Broward and Miami-Dade by Vincent Colangelo, of Davie. Investigators said Colangelo’s businesses dispensed 660,000 oxycodone pills in a two-year period. Investigators also said Colangelo’s operation earned him 0,000 per day.

By day’s end, federal agents brought in dozens of high-priced and vintage cars to the DEA offices in Weston, many owned by Colangelo. The cars ranged from a 1970 Mustang to a Lamborghini. There was also a Mercedes McLaren, a Rolls-Royce and a Dodge Viper.

Colangelo is locked up in the Broward County Jail on federal charges.

A pill mill is a doctor, clinic or pharmacy which prescribes or dispenses powerful prescription drugs for non-medical reasons.

Broward County has seen a meteoric rise in the number of pill mills in the county; they have more than doubled from 2008 to 2009.

Pill mill clinics come in ‘all shapes and sizes,’ but investigators say more and more are being disguised as independent pain-management centers. Many of these operations don’t require a physical exam or x-ray, customers just pick up their prescription at “their” pharmacy.

The operation was called “Operation Pill Nation” and was meant to shut down the busiest clinics that give out millions of narcotics.

One of the physicians arrested Wednesday was Dr. Zvi Perper, the son of Broward Medical Examiner, Dr. Joshua Perper. When asked about the allegations, Zvi Perper called them, “Untrue.”

The DEA says this is only the beginning of their efforts to dismantle a deadly business that kills seven people a day in Florida. They say the pill mill problem is so rampant in South Florida that other states have dubbed I-95 the Oxy Express.

According to DEA spokesman David Melenkevitz, there are approximately 300 to 400 law enforcement personnel involved in this operation and they expect more arrests and more clinics to be closed in the near future.

But that battle may become tougher under a new plan from the Governor’s office.

Earlier this month Governor Rick Scott said he wants to repeal the state’s yet-to-be-implemented prescription drug tracking law and computer data base which was designed to crack down on “pill mills.”

Scott spokesman Brian Hughes said that the electronic monitoring delayed by contract challenges, may not be as effective as advocates claim. The governor also was worried it might infringe on patients’ privacy, he said.

The proposed repeal, though, drew sharp opposition from the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine. The doctors’ group issued a statement saying such a system would be “the single most effective weapon in the battle to shut down Florida’s so-called pill mills.”

The repeal also drew the ire of Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti, who has to fight the pill mills that pop up almost every day.

“When I was appointed in 2007, there were four pain clinics; now there are 130,” Lamberti said. “There are more pain clinics than McDonald’s.”

The issue is so important to Lamberti that he helped raise money to get the prescription drug monitoring program implemented. He said it is a necessity.

“That’s why these drug traffickers come here,” Lamberti told CBS 4′s Carey Codd. “They know we don’t have it. We need to finally join the rest of the country.

“Hopefully this operation will inform not only (Scott) but everybody in Tallahassee all the more the reason why we need that.”

…..item 2)…. SunSentinel.com … Al Lamberti: World is watching to see if Florida acts against pill mills

World watches to see if Florida acts against pill mills

April 04, 2011

articles.sun-sentinel.com/2011-04-04/news/fl-lamberti-dru…

The war on drugs continues, but the battlefield has changed.

Instead of a dilapidated crack house in an impoverished neighborhood, the battle zone is a sterile pain clinic on a major city street. The drug of choice is not a leafy plant or some powder cooked up in a makeshift lab. It’s a perfect little pill manufactured under the watchful eye of the FDA by respected pharmaceutical firms. Sadly, all the cocaine, crack, meth, and heroin combined don’t kill as many people as these perfect little pills.

On average, seven people a day are killed by prescription drug abuse in Florida. If there was a serial killer on the loose who was claiming seven lives daily, there would be public outrage and an all-out effort to stop the murders, but I hardly hear a peep. The only cries come from the families of sons and daughters and brothers and sisters who are stoned to death by prescription drugs.

The famous ones make headlines. Anna Nicole Smith here in Broward County and others elsewhere, like Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, John Belushi, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, and on and on.

Prescription drugs kill the rich and famous and the poor and unknown, male and female, black and white. Most of the victims are not born into a world of drug abuse; they stumble into it thinking that perfect little pills dispensed by people in lab coats make for a buzz that’s safer and more legal than the ones induced by the junkies’ junk. They are, of course, dead wrong.

When I became Sheriff of Broward County three and a half years ago, there were four pain clinics operating in Broward County . Today we have around 130. It’s hard to keep track because they open and close in different locations all the time. Alternative weekly newspapers are a good gauge of pill mill proliferation based on how many pages of ads they run. "Walk-ins welcome!" and "pharmacy on-site" in big bold type let us know that addicts have someplace to go. We have more pill mills in Broward County than we have McDonalds. Pain clinics outnumber Starbucks. Broward County is ground zero.

…..item 3)…. The Miami Herald … MiamiHerald.com … Gov. Rick Scott signs pill mill bill into law

Gov. Rick Scott signed legislation into law to crack down on pill mills in Florida.

Posted on Friday, 06.03.11

HERALD/TIMES TALLAHASSEE BUREU

www.miamiherald.com/2011/06/03/2249936/scott-signs-pill-m…

TALLAHASSEE — After initially fighting one of its key provisions, Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill Friday aimed at cracking down on clinics that frivolously dispense pain pills, feeding a nationwide prescription drug abuse epidemic.

"Florida will shed its title as the Oxy Express," Scott said at a bill signing ceremony in Tampa.
The signing ended what had been a hard-fought political battle over how to stop an epidemic that kills an estimated seven Floridians daily.

Attorney General Pam Bondi made tackling prescription drug abuse her top priority, lobbying legislators for more tools to pursue pill mill operators.

But senators and representatives began the legislative session this with vastly different ideas on how to corral the problem.

Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, and Senate President Mike Haridopolos were staunch advocates of a prescription drug monitoring database.

Scott and House leaders wanted to eliminate it, raising questions about its effectiveness and privacy.
Scott launched his own law enforcement "strike force" to tackle the problem, and Rep. Robert Schecnk, R-Spring Hill, pushed a bill targeting doctors and drug distributors.

The final product includes Bondi’s priorities, as well as elements of the House bill and Fasano’s database.

"The governor has made a huge turnaround," Fasano said. "The governor today signed a bill today that not only preserves the prescription drug monitoring database. It makes it better."

The bill tightens reporting requirements to the database from 15 days to seven days, a change critics said the program needed to make it more effective.

The measure also increases penalties for overprescribing Oxycodone and other narcotics, tracks wholesale distribution of some controlled substances, and provides million to support law enforcement efforts and state prosecutors.

It also bans most doctors who prescribe narcotics from dispensing them, requiring prescriptions to be filled at certain types of pharmacies.

Scott has been under pressure from elected officials throughout the country to do something about the proliferation of so-called "pill mills" in Florida that attract people from other states seeking easy access to highly addictive, powerful painkillers.

"The toll our nation’s prescription drug abuse epidemic has taken in communities nationwide is devastating and Florida is ground zero," said Gil Kerlikowske, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy after Scott signed the bill.

While testifying before a congressional committee with Kentucky Gov. Steve Bershear in April, Scott pledged to address the problem and give up his push to kill Florida’s prescription drug monitoring database, a top priority for Kerlikowske’s nationwide prescription drug battle.

Bershear applauded Scott and the Florida legislature on Friday.

"The signing of this bill will undoubtedly save lives – not just in Florida, but in points north, including my home state of Kentucky," he said. "This comprehensive bill is another good step in our cooperative efforts to protect our families from the scourge of prescription drug abuse. I thank Gov. Scott for signing this important bill."

On Friday, Scott drew maximum attention to his signing of a popular law that won unanimous support in both the House and Senate with ceremonies in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando.

Broward County has become the nation’s pill-mill capital, with 130 pain clinics in operation. In Broward alone, more than one million oxycodone tablets are prescribed every month, according to local law enforcement authorities.

Broward Commissioner Chip LaMarca, who attended the bill signing in Fort Lauderdale, praised the governor for supporting the new law.

“I applaud Governor Scott in realizing the severity of this epidemic, and using the full force of his office to aid in the fight to stop these senseless deaths. I think it shows his awareness of the issue that the first bill signing took place here in Broward County —Ground Zero in the fight against this epidemic," LaMarca said in a statement.

Broward commissioners recently approved an ordinance with strict rules on zoning, hours of operation and business practices of pain management clinics. They also prohibits the clinics from operating within 1,200 feet of another pain management clinic, place of worship, child care center or educational center.
In Tampa, Scott said highlighted the statewide strike force he assembled with Bondi. The task force has made 350 arrests since March.

When asked if the bill was strong enough, Scott said it was and left the door open for more legislation if needed.

"If there’s something we need to do," he said, "we’ll do more."

When Casey Quaife is heavily intoxicated, all he needs is some GNR therapy.

Hipsters rockin’ body suits, high-waist shorts, and large, dark-framed glasses, mid-aged men in fedora hats, rockers with tattoos up and down their arms, and tourists from California wearing white wife-beaters on their backs and Converse on their feet were sitting on a black couch and standing by the bar at Kill Your Idol with a statue of Bruce Lee staring at them.

It was karaoke night at the SoBe hot spot and the overly zealous, inebriated crowd was cheering on those who had enough liquid courage in their system (or natural talent?) to get on stage, grab the mike, and scream sing at the top of their lungs.

Although it may sound like a horrible idea while sober, once you’ve had several brewskies, your filter of shame loosens and things that seemed embarrassing become insightful discoveries, especially when accompanied by the right music.

Here are the ten best songs to get drunk to, according to Miami drunkies.

1). — "Estranged" by Guns N’ Roses

"If I’m in a good mood, I’ll listen to Guns N’ Roses," said Casey Quaife.

"I’m a real big fan and even have a tattoo of them," he said as he showed off his inked sleeve. "’Estranged’ is a good one."

You can’t go wrong with GNR.
.

2). — "Specialist" by Interpol

"’Specialist’ by Interpol," said Jackson Harris who had just finished watching a rendition of Usher’s "Let It Burn."

That’s a mellow dramatic song to listen to while heavily intoxicated, but for the emotional drunks, we’d say it’s quite appropriate.

3). — "Dill the Noise" by Dillon Francis & Kill the Noise

"But if you want a pumped up song, there’s ‘Dill the Noise’," added Harris.
.

4). — "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix

"’Hey Joe’ by Jimi Hendrix," said Johnny Hamrick who was sitting with his lady friend, Gloria Rodriguez.
.

5). — "Voodoo Child" by Jimi Hendrix

"And ‘Voodoo Child,’" added Rodriguez. "It’s like you’re living on a beach. It’s also a good one to smoke to."

"It’s my go to," said Hamrick.
.

6). — "Swim Good" by Frank Ocean

"Another good one to smoke to is Frank Ocean’s ‘Swim Good’," said Rodriguez. "It makes you think about the lyrics and you actually understand them."

Once you get lost in deep philosophical thought, there’s no turning back especially in a high state of mind.
.

7). — "Come On & Come" by Devin the Dude

"It’s about bitches and smoking weed," said Marco Pauliti. "I’m from Cali and we’re all about weed."

Sounds legit, coming from a true Californian and all.
.

8). — "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" by George Thorogood

"George Thorogood’s ‘One Whiskey, One Beer,’" said Jimmy Vega. "It’s all about drinking. It’s perfect. Who wouldn’t like it?"
.

….. Continued from page 4

"Goin Out West" by Tom Waits

"It’s pure and absolute rock and he sings it in a hoarse voice," said Eduardo, the self-proclaimed "Rock n’ Rolla with a Bolla."

"’The Rock n’ Rolla with a Bolla’?"

"Yeah, because it’s all about the hat," he added.
.

10). — "Xxplosive" by Dr. Dre

"It’s really chill and [a song] you can really get fucked up to," said Marvis Cruz.

In the words of D-R-E, her "shit must be the bomb."

A few nice everybody knows lyrics images I found:

[I've Got the Magic in Me] 14/365
everybody knows lyrics

"Everybody knows I’ve got the magic in me.

——————————————

I like this photo of myself, however I do agree with my husband – it does not capture ‘me‘ well, like this photo does.
I guess I like it because it’s me, but it’s almost a ‘different side of me’ – not to mention a different angle that I’m not used to seeing as much [such as straight on photos].
I don’t know, there is just something about this ‘me’ that I like. Perhaps it is the more mysterious- more seductive side of me? Haha, I doubt it.

SOO ANYWAY, I’M UP TO DATE WITH MY 365 NOW! :]
Told you guys that I’d get it done soon.

:]
Tomorrow I’m going to be doing portraits of the children attending my son’s birthday party, and of coarse running the whole thing -along side of my husband. However, if I have time to snap a few photos of myself for my 365 tomorrow I will do that.. Hopefully with all of the ‘party’ stuff around – I’ll be able to come up with something clever.. [that is- if i get a chance to do so!]
I’ll have my camera/strobes/tripod with me, so we’ll see!

Have a nice weekend flickr!

Where are you? [Tribute to Thekra]
everybody knows lyrics

My beloved, can you see where did you end up and where did I?
My beloved one; you’ve left me alone and I am lost since then!

My beloved one, everything about me was changed..
Everybody knew about it; I used to say love does not exist but now I admit it…LOVE DO EXIST!

My wishes and youth were extinguished…
I am weak as a skinny tree standing against a great storm…
Sigh…If a kid listen to my depressing story he will have a grey hair instantly!

My beloved one, I wish when you left; you took "my longing" with you to comfort both of us!
But instead you left me with depression and wounds.

Exactly three years ago (on 28th of November 2003), she was murdered by her
husband MAY HE BURN IN HELL, NO MATTER HOW MUCH I HATE I CAN NOT HATE HIM ENOUGH.
I am still denying the fact that her little heart is not pulsing anymore.

I know you might think "What a shallow guy?!" he feel sorry for a singer, despite the fact that she is one of my favorite ones all time but she left this world in a drastic way murdered with 16 bullets using a machine gun :(
I really wish I could do anything to get her back, but that’s her destiny…
And it’s my destiny to feel bad for her lost…

People always said "Life goes on" but that doesn’t work with me specially with the cruel way she left, I might need more time If not forever to get over it :(

I loved her since the first time I heard her in the early 1990s.
People didn’t know her value and what a great voice she had until she passed away.
May her soul rest in heaven.

Her last album released only 3 days before her death, in her last music video of the song "Youm Alaik" (Translation: "A Day against you" or "A rainy day" ) she seemed like she knew her future and what’s her destiny; she almost sound like she was singing the very last days of her life!

You can find some of her songs translated by me in my MUSIC BLOG:
radiantguysongs.blogspot.com/search/label/Thekra

I just wrote a small biography of her in both English and Arabic as a tribute to her, you can read it following this link:

Day II – Walk Away
everybody knows lyrics

I love this song, and am SO glad he played it! It seemed everybody knew the words, and those who didn’t were totally engrossed. Even Ben Harper commented that he didn’t think he’d ever seen 20,000 people be so quiet!

With so many people
To love in my life,
Why do I worry
About one?
But you put the happy
In my ness,
You put the good times
Into my fun.
And it’s so hard to do,
And so easy to say,
But sometimes,
Sometimes you just have to
Walk away.
