8 of 365 – Awakening
switchfoot lyrics

Today was a little more eventful than yesterday, so I guess things are getting better.

I woke up around noon and had to go get groceries for my mom. Brittney met me up there and we had some fun spending my mom’s money. :D Afterwards, I attempted to get gas at Walmart, but failed. I pulled up and my tank was on the wrong side, so I tried to stretch the hose over there. After an unsuccessful attempt, I told Brittney to hop over into the driver’s seat and maneuver the vehicle to where the nozzle would reach. We laughed pretty hard because we were determined to make it work. Meanwhile, I hear some stuff over the intercom but I pay no attention to it. I then realize that it is the guy inside the little booth telling me that I’m just going to have to turn my car around. Seeing as how Brittney had just moved the car one last time and I had not tried to get the nozzle in, I jokingly yelled to him "I can do it!" I guess they didn’t find it funny. Moments later another random guy ran out from the hut yelling at me to not "stretch his hoses like that" and that I just needed to turn around. Being as stubborn as I am, I got in the passenger seat of my own car and told Brittney, "let’s go!" Both laughing uncontrollably, we drove off. (Don’t worry, we didn’t steal any gas if that’s what you’re thinking….)

Following the events at Walmart, me and Brittney journied to Hobby Lobby just to mess around. Brittney randomly states "I used to have a friend that would buy wax and chew on it like gum."….she never should have said that. Because we are the way we are, we went on a scavenger to find some wax to try chewing on to see if it could even come close to being chewed like gum. We both get to our cars in the parking lot and she quickly whips out the wax and a pocket knife and starts cutting. Laughing, I told her to try some first, and then I would follow. She agreed, stupidly, and stuck a chunk in her mouth, only to start gagging viciously right after. She spit out the wax just as quick as she had put it in and we both laughed until our sides hurt.

I went home for a while just to relax and have some lunch and my bother and sister start texting me, both at the same time, asking me if I wanted to go to one of the public pools tonight as a part of "family night." Having nothing else to do until around 10:00, I agreed. Me, my brother, my sister, Brittney, and Brian wrestled around at the pool for a few hours until about 9:00. I then came home and showered so I could go hang out with Leslie. We went to Medi Park and took some pictures (above) in front of the Discovery Center.

This is where I got my photo of the day for 365. It’s nothing special, but it’s the best I could come up with in the few hours remaining in the day. Besides, I kinda like it. It’s just somewhat intriguing to me. Afterwards we went back to Leslie’s house and watched America’s Best Dance Crew, some show on E!, and Tila Tequila. I finally left her house at around 2:30, which brings me to now.

I know I’ve said a lot and that 99.9% of you won’t read more than five words of what I wrote, but it always feels good just to let everything out. Kind of like a debriefing. Haha.

Oh, and I know the title is pretty irrelevant to the picture, but it’s the name of a song by Switchfoot that I am in love with and haven’t been able to get out of my head…

I leave you with a few lyrics from the song.
———————————————————
Awakening – Switchfoot

Here we are now with the falling sky and the rain,
We’re awakening
Here we are now with our desperate youth and the pain,
We’re awakening
Maybe it’s called ambition, you’ve been talking in your sleep
About a dream, we’re awakening

Last week found me living for nothing but deadlines,
With my dead beat sky but, this town doesn’t look the same tonight
These dreams started singing to me out of nowhere
And in all my life I don’t know that I ever felt so alive,
Alive

I want to wake up kicking and screaming
I want to wake up kicking and screaming
I want to know that my heart’s still beating
It’s beating,
I’m bleeding

Dare You To Move
switchfoot lyrics

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone’s here
Everyone’s here

Everybody’s watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next
What happens next?

- Dare You To Move, Switchfoot

I’ve always wanted to take a photo that would fit with this song, because it’s very close to my heart. This is my favorite part of the lyrics, the beginning.
…I hope you all like it as much as I do.

More Than Fine

When I wake in the morning
I want to blow into pieces
I want more than just ok, more than just ok
When I’m up with the sunrise
I want more than just the blue skies
I want more than just ok, more than just ok

I’m not givin’ up, givin’ up, not givin’ up now
I’m not givin’ up, givin’ up, not backing down

More than fine, more than bent on getting by
More than fine, more than just ok

A&I Starts 2011-12 Season with Legendary Rockers Three Dog Night

Edwardsville, Ill. (PRWEB) August 31, 2011

Legendary music icons Three Dog Nightknown for memorable rock hits such as Joy to the World, One and Shambalawill open the 2011-12 season of Southern Illinois University Edwardsvilles Arts & Issues series Oct. 8 at SIUEs Vadalabene Center. Sponsored by the SIUE Foundation, the 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, concert will be presented in conjunction with SIUEs Homecoming weekend.

For more than 25 years, SIUEs Arts & Issues series has brought great performers and distinguished speakers to Southwestern Illinois. The official media sponsors for A&I are the Edwardsville Intelligencer and KWMU-FM, while the series official hotel sponsor is Hampton Inn and Suites. The 2010-11 Arts & Issues season was partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, as is this season.

Arts & Issues Director Grant Andree said Three Dog Night is one of the banner rock groups of the early 1970s and that the music created by this group continues to be a staple in record stores and on rock radio stations throughout the world. The memories that this music evokes will make it a special evening for our audiences, Andree said. And, young audience members also will recognize the melodies made famous by this group.

It promises to be a great kick-off to a great 26th Arts & Issues season, Andree said. We are very excited about the performers and speakers we have scheduled in the upcoming months. I hope our patrons will take advantage of the subscription sales because these concerts tend to fill up fast.

Three Dog Night is celebrating its fourth decade of entertaining audiences with clever pop lyrics, hard driving rock-n-roll and impressive vocals. From 1969-1974 no other group achieved more Top 10 hits, sold more records or sold more concert tickets. The groups music has been forever woven into the fabric of American pop culture, whether on radio day in and day out, in television commercials or in motion pictures. About Shannon Cook:

Shannon Cook is a Southern California native who grew up in the late 60s and early 70s as a quintessential beach girl. Her creative spirit has led her to dabble in everything from cake decorating, pottery, stained glass, interior decorating and fashion design, to too many other things to mention. Most of those pursuits have gone by the wayside, but some, like cooking and photography, seem to have stuck, as has her passion for travel and the outdoors. She fuels her creativity with lots of wine, trips to exotic locales and crazy bucket list adventures. If she doesn’t have a trip in the pipeline she goes nuts, and is frankly writing this book for the sole purpose of paying for her travel addiction and the occasional splurge on shoes. To quiet her sometimes chaotic “squirrel” mind, she loves to walk on the beach with her dog, standup paddle surf, ride bikes, ski and do yoga. Shannon Cook lives in Southern California with her honey, Scott, their Cairn Terrier, Tassie, and cat, Coonie. No Weird or Fancy Stuff is her first book.

Breaking Benjamin – “Breath” LYRICS!

Breaking Benjamin -

My second movie with Breaking Benjamin is finally done, for this one I have chosen “Breath”, which is also on their album “Phobia”. I have tried and make this movie even more interesting than the one before, with more added effects and pictures it should be worth seeing! For this movie I have not used any website with different lyrics, all the lyrics are selfheared and written. Hope you enjoy the movie! :)
Video Rating: 4 / 5

Breaking Benjamin is an American Alternative Metal band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, currently consisting of Benjamin Burnley, Aaron Fink, Mark Klepaski and Chad Szeliga. Breaking Benjamin is currently working on their fourth studio album yet to be titled, with David Bendeth and Reem Barakat. Their music is most often classed as alternative rock or post-grunge, but they have also been described as alternative metal Breath – Lyrics I see nothing in your eyes, and the more I see the less I like. Is it over yet, in my head? I know nothing of your kind, and I won’t reveal your evil mind. Is it over yet? I can’t win. So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what’s left. I know that I can find the fire in your eyes. I’m going all the way, get away, please. [Chorus:] You take the breath right out of me. You left a hole where my heart should be. You got to fight just to make it through, ’cause I will be the death of you. This will be all over soon. Pour salt into the open wound. Is it over yet? Let me in. [Bridge] I’m waiting, I’m praying, realize, start hating. [Chorus:] You take the breath right out of me. You left a hole where my heart should be. You got to fight just to make
